ANOTHER successful Angling Teach-in has been held at Moses Gate Country Park The events organised and run by Bolton Bailiffs AC are aimed specifically at adults with learning difficulties and such is the demand that the club cannot open the events to other groups.
However, young people who wish to learn the techniques of the sport get their own chance when they are invited to a Starters Teach-in on Sunday October 8.
The organisors, Bolton and District Anglers Association, are running the event as part of the Mersey Basin weekend

A FULL turnout of 90 of the North West's top matchmen lined the banks of the Sankey -- St Helens Canal for the Newton-Le-Willows National Team Open.
And it was Bolton anglers who outfished the regulars on the big fish venue.
Steve Conroy (Keenets North West) won the match with 11-2-8 of bream and tench on the pole.
BAS 2000 member Carl Lowe missed out by a meagre ounce and a half.
The Farnworth angler secured second place with 11-1-0 fishing worm and caster for a fine net of bream and skimmers.
Danny Sixsmith (Team Drennan) was third with 10-8-0 of bream.
Local matchmen Martin Howcroft (BAS 2000), Matthew Forster (Bolton AA) and Simon Stott (BAS 2000) all won their sections. Martin caught 4-14-0 of tench, roach and skimmers on worm and caster.
Matthew weighed 5-15-0 of stamp roach on hempseed and Simon caught 3-10-0 of small fish on squatt.
Over Hulton AC notices
THE club members match at Copthorne on September 3 now has a different date and will take place on Sunday October 15.
September 10 is the date for a club match on Duchy Pond with a 10.30am draw and £5 entry.
Another club match has been organised for Sunday September 24 at Lock Lane. Draw time and entry costs as above.
Bait restrictions apply to both matches.

Bolton match scene
DIXON Green Wednesday Night Open 23/08/00 -- The large slab bream have disappeared in numbers and very few were caught in this final evening match of the year.
There were so many fish topping, a fly rod might have been more successful.
Bob Fernhead, a man always ready to try a fresh approach mimicked the appearance of the blackfly that were being picked of the water by using black casters as bait and this proved the right choice when he took a nice bream but he lost other big fish on his light tackle. Results: 1st Bob Fernhead (Worsley Angling Centre) 5-1-0, 2nd Paul Ayres (Worsley Angling Centre) 3-13-0, 3rd M Booth (Unattached) 1-10-0.
Doffcocker Wednesday Night Open 02/08/00 -- A good night's fishing on a water containing a bit of colour and a nice ripple. All bodes well for the next few weeks.
Winner Dave had an 8lb carp and a bream, whilst John had four bream in his total.
Third placed Steve lost a match winning bream and caught two others.
Results: 1st Dave Hughes, peg 4, 10-5-0, 2nd John Crook, peg 1b, 8-5-0, 3rd Steve Walsh, peg 16, 6-11-0, 4th. Dave Cooper, peg 6, 6-6-0, 5th Tony Birchall, peg 11, 5-0-0.
Standard Cup Monday Night Open Bolton Canal 18/08/00 -- Bumper pay-outs were on the agenda on this final qualifying match as the accumilated bonus peg money was split into 5 section prizes of £80 each.
The canal is proving trickier with the small fish experts coming to the fore.
Bank Holiday Monday's big final for the Standard Scaffold Trophy has a three o'clock draw on the car park.

Kearsley Royal British Legion aggregate match - Leeds Liverpool Canal, Appley Bridge 20/08/00 -- The Kearsley lads have been fed a diet of fisheries this last few weeks so it was down to earth with a bump as they went back to the fine tackle to fish for bits on the canal. The winner though had the bonus of a 2lb-8oz bream on the inside with worm, whilst the second placed angler caught bits on squat and bread punch. Next week they fish at Widows Flash. Results: 1st Alan Gregory 2-12-2, 2nd Dave Killener 1-9-10, 3rd Darren Bridge 1-6-13, 4th. Ian Longworth 1-5-13.
Dixon Green Wednesday Open 20/08/00 -- ON a night when the carp were showing a huge mirror of 13lbs 14ozs was all that was needed for the winner. Match organiser Alan in second place also had a couple of carp. Results: 1st John Eastwood (Worsley Angling Centre) 13-14-0, 2nd Alan Platt (Bolton Angling Centre) 11-12-0, 3rd John Christey (Rochdale Anglers) 1-12-0.
