SOUTHPORT FIREWORKS SPECTACULAR. To Sunday. Over 50,000 are expected to attend one of the country's top fireworks event which includes the British Musical Fireworks Championship, an exhibition of fireworks, displays for the BBC, Granada TV, Virgin and the Orient Express. Phoenix Fireworks have provided fireworks to accompany celebrities Tommy Steele, Edward Heath and Robbie Williams. Displays over the Marine Lake are played to music from show tunes and film themes. Saturday: Quicksilver and Phoenix Fireworks display, 9.45pm. Also, Sunday August 27, the Amabalino Pryo Displays start at 9.15pm and Jubilee Fireworks, 9.45pm. Gates open 7pm each evening.
