THE search is on for the most courteous Bolton shop, restaurant, hotel, pub or club assistant who always gives service with a smile.

The competition -- part of the Bolton Daytime-Nightime Festival -- will be run in the town centre from September 7-11.

The prize will be an overnight stay for two people at the Macdonald Hotel, Last Drop Village, including dinner, bed and breakfast. And we have three of these prizes to give away over the next three months.

The first winner will receive a special token of the town's appreciation at the Bolton Town Centre Company Excellence Awards, to be held at the Victoria Halls on Monday, September 11.

Mark Powell, team leader at the Good Nosh Butty Bar, Bark Street East, Bolton, has his own ideas about good service. He said: "When we opened the Butty Bar in July, we concentrated on price, quality and service.

"But we soon realised that we had to concentrate on service, service, service! If people have only 30 minutes to eat their dinner, they don't want to wait in a queue for 15 minutes to buy their sandwiches.

Mark believes that a little extra effort and personalised service make all the difference to customers and he and his staff are determined to make their mark on Bolton's butty eaters.

All you have to do is write in and tell us who you think deserves the award and why.

The special person we are looking for is one who always makes you feel welcome, has a friendly smile and whose service goes above and beyond the call of duty!

Send your nominations to: Service with a smile, Alison Barton, Features Department, Bolton Evening News, Newspaper House, Churchgate, Bolton BL1 1DE by Monday September 4.
