DEREK Hilton says he is surprised and disappointed at my getting embroiled in an argument between S Elster and Mrs Stuart, on the ethics of liberalising do-gooders.

But why should this upset Mr Hilton?

Shouldn't we all be concerned about the lowering of our moral standards?

What Derek is really upset about, I guess, is the line I used from Mrs Stuart's letter: "Today's obsession with homosexuality."

I realise now that this was unfortunate, and may have upset some people.

So, let me make it perfectly clear. I have absolutely nothing against the vast majority of homosexuals.

Most of those I have met come across as kind, caring people.

But, like most kind, caring people, it seems they do tend to feel hurt and upset when they think someone has said something against them.

However, I am very concerned that there are those people who want the age of consent lowered still further.

Wouldn't this be tantamount to wanting sex with children?

I don't know what your views are on this Derek, but I feel sure, like all right minded people of any sexuality, you would strongly oppose it.

Oh, and Derek! I feel just as concerned about 16-year-old girls and predatory heterosexual men, as I do about 16-year-old youths and predatory homosexuals.
