AFTER enjoying the varied views of your 'regulars', Messrs Derbyshire and Brown, I now note that others are joining in on an almost daily basis, namely from Baxenden, and Westhoughton respectively.

The latter is seemingly using your columns just for Labour electioneering purposes, on a biased and 'rose-tinted' view.

Most of us know of the 18-year Tory period and what they achieved.

We also know of the last Labour Government's time in office and what they achieved, which was the main cause of the Tories' 18-year stint.

Every party has both good and bad points, with flaws on all sides, but give credit where credit is due, instead of continual biased utterances.

There were many senior Tories that I disliked who were 'back-stabbers' and disloyal and who let in the lacklustre John Major, whose policies included the stupid selling-off of the railways as just one of the many disasters of his time.

But for the Westhoughton contributor to sing Labour's praises is absurd, or do they not read or listen to the latest reports and note that the present Prime Minister does not listen to any public opinion on pensions, crime, asylum seekers, the NHS problems and the exorbitant petrol prices, which are now raising the shop prices?

And to accuse Hague of opportunism is biased, as any opportunist would not have been necessary if the aforesaid had been attended to previously.

This present PM is adamant in joining the Euro and giving away all our country's rights, and hoping to become Euro President.

His wife has also secured their future fortunes by starting a new barrister practice in her own right.

Elite

And, as the deputy PM, Mr Prescott, has joined in the present elite row, why has he tried to stop press reports on his two Jags and four expensive homes -- one of which has just had a £400,000 refit including nine bathrooms, a pool, tennis courts, plus a butler?

He also has a 'castle', a London flat belonging to the Rail and Maritime Union and an apartment in Admiralty House, which has also had an expensive refit at public expense.

It's not too bad for an ordinary comprehensive pupil and ex-cabin steward.

Or is it a case of 'Do as I say, and not as I do', or 'pull the ladder up, Jack, I'm on board'?

Maybe the rose-tinted specs became steamed-up.

The specs must have cleared for the Westhoughton contributor to continue with the jibe at Hague's pension increases.

As to the free TV licences mentioned, there are as many 60 to 75 year-old pensioners not entitled to them, so should not have been included in the Westhoughton contributor's con.

Many pensioners do not receive any extra' benefits so extra money in the pocket weekly is what is wanted.
