THE funeral of Jaffer Javid has taken place.
A service for the eight-year-old, who drowned in Blackshaw Lodge, off Blackshaw Lane, in Deane, was held at Mecca Mosque, Rishton Lane, Great Lever , followed by burial at Heaton Cemetery.
Jaffer, of Oriel Street, Deane, was the subject of a large scale search over the Bank Holiday weekend by police, Bolton mountain rescue and members of the Muslim community following his disappearance on Friday lunchtime.
He was later found in water up to six feet deep by rescue divers.
A post mortem examination revealed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
Nisar Ishaq, the boy's uncle, blamed the local authority for the death despite the land being privately owned.
He said: "Bolton Council should have powers to order the filling in of these ponds."
