BOLTON West Tory hopeful James Stevens believes Britain is reaping the benefits of staying outside the European single currency.
Mr Stevens, who hopes to unseat Labour's Ruth Kelly at the next general election, says Britain's decision to stay outside the single currency -- whilst still a full and active trading member of the European Union -- has enhanced Britain's global economic position.
He said today: "In the first 12 months since the Euro's launch Britain attracted more inward investment than the rest of the EU combined.
"Surely, this evidence alone destroys any argument that we will lose trade, investment and jobs to the rest of Europe if we do not sign up for the single currency."
He added: "Britain actually attracts investment because of our strong and unique economic position within Europe.
"All the available evidence shows that Britain will not only survive, but will actually flourish if we keep the pound."
