I READ with anger the letter from P Wright in last Friday's BEN which attacked Christine Adams for telling the truth about Farnworth.
During the past week, I have had to visit the so-called 'centre' on three occasions and found dirty, untidy, litter-strewn streets with people walking around eating and throwing the remains on the ground.
Another point I noticed was when I was repeatedly pushed away from the odd shop display in which I may have been interested.
Bad manners were the criteria of the scruffilly-dressed people on the streets and especially their screaming, demanding children.
The only people with manners and courtesy were the older generation and, when I spoke to these people, they shared my disgust at the state of the town, due to the behaviour of the people and children.
In case P Wright tells me to leave Farnworth, my family came to the Manor house in 1387 when it was a country town.
This was to be ruined by a Labour councillor who campaigned to have all the 'black and white' and Georgian houses destroyed, thus removing the dignity of the town.
Labour has a lot to answer for regarding the deterioration of the town.
The majority of the people I met do not do anything by their actions and dress to counteract that deterioration.
