YOUNGSTERS in Horwich and Blackrod have enjoyed an educational, but fun summer.
Dozens of children have been busy taking part in their first ever out of school project which has involved St Mary's School, St Cath- erine's School, Lord Street School, Horwich Parish School, Blackrod Church School, Blackrod Primary School, Scot Lane End School, Claypool Primary and Rivington and Blackrod High School.
The project included plenty of study with opportunities to make maths, drama, history and art fun.
But the youngsters have also been out and about with excursions to a nature trail, Smithills Hall and the Reebok Stadium.
The Activ-8 drama group from the Octagon theatre also worked with the children as did an artist in residence.
Project co-ordinator, Barbara Mason, said: "The children had a wonderful time and even the rain did not deter the fun."
