AN angry woman motorist travelling alone with her three-month-old baby was left dazed and bruised after a hit-and-run accident.

Patricia Royle, 34, says a van driver drove off after being involved in an accident in which the back of her car was damaged at Chequerbent roundabout in Westhoughton.

She claims that instead of helping her, he jumped out of his van and demanded she moved her damaged vehicle out of his way.

But she felt too dazed with shock to drive so Mrs Royle says he angrily manoeuvred around her and drove off towards Westhoughton town centre.

The incident last week left Mrs Royle with painful bruises after her head jolted forward and hit the steering wheel.

Fortunately her baby, Jacob, was fastened securely in a baby seat next to her and was unharmed.

She said: "I'm sure he was aware of what he had done. I thought he was coming out of his van to help me. But all he did was come up and say, "Can you not move the car".

"I was in a state of shock and wasn't taking anything in.

"Luckily I had just dropped off my other son otherwise he would have been in the back of the car too.

"All the boot has caved in and the rear of my car is a real mess."

Mrs Royle, from Lostock, was travelling in her blue Ford Escort northbound along the A6 and was hit in the back of her car while waiting to join the roundabout.

She thinks the white van may have had red lettering on it.
