THE Bolton Evening News is campaigning for the filling in of disused lodges.
During the hey day of the industrial revolution the lodges would be heavily used in the manufacturing process.
Most are now overgrown and have become little more than dumping grounds for household waste.
The BEN is not looking for action against the many picturesque ponds that fill our borough. But where debris and waste takes the place of lush grass and flowers, the lodges and their surrounding area become dangerous eyesores.
And we say: "fill 'em in."
