MUM was the word as a firm specialising in temperature control devices set the seal on its move to Bolton.

ThermoSpeed, which has an "off the shelf" delivery service for components of refrigeration units, thermometers and thermostats, has created 10 new jobs with its relocation from Salford Quays to Lostock Industrial Estate.

Marjorie Wainwright, mother of parent company Hawco's current managing director and chief executive Julian Wainwright, performed the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Mrs Wainwright, who is on the board of directors, was a co-founder of Hawco 28 years ago.

ThermoSpeed had outgrown the existing premises and says its new 21,000 sq ft distribution centre has several advantages.

Eric Dixon, director responsible for the Bolton site, said: "When we were in Salford there weren't many amenities close by where people could pop out whereas in Lostock and at Middlebrook there are a number close to hand.

"We have staff based from Rochdale to Warrington and we needed to make sure the majority would come with us because the company is based on individuals.

"We felt it was a good location, not only for staff loyalty but also for us to be able to use nearby facilities when we are playing host to customers and suppliers, for example the conferencing suites at the Reebok Stadium.

"From a communications point of view Bolton is far better. We need to be in a position where people can get to us quickly rather than having to go through the city."

ThermoSpeed's workforce will be around 35 people and began moving into its new site in June after deciding to relocate in March this year.

The company has recently become an e-commerce business by launching its own Internet-based catalogue.
