HULTON Park Liberal Democrat councillors, Derek Gradwell and John Cronnolley, are pushing for 'road works' on one of the area's busiest junctions.

The works being pushed for is a pedestrian crossing on the stretch of the A6 close to the White Horse pub.

Cllr Gradwell said: "It is particularly difficult for pedestrians to cross the A6 in the White Horse area. It is quite a wide road with lots of traffic on it and for older residents it can be very difficult to cross.

"We are hoping that some crossing facilities will be provided."

Cllr John Cronnolley, editor of Liberal Democrat's Hulton Park FOCUS Newsletter, added: "More road safety measures are needed along the A6 between Chequerbent Roundabout and Wingates Parish Church.

"The amount of traffic is growing, especially with more businesses on Wingates Industrial Estate and also with possible traffic to and from the planned new school in Wingates, which is alongside the A6.

"Bolton Council has carried out road safety works on the A6 at Over Hulton and Hilton House, but where the most of the people live in the Wingates and White Horse areas, there is none."
