The Bolton 19-year-old had little time to savour his greatest achievement before he jumped on a plane to begin a five-year scholarship at the University of Arkansas in America.
He won his heat in 1.54.7 to reach the final where he accelerated away from the field with 250 metres to go to cross the line first in 1.51.4.
The season has seen Chris improve his 800m time to 1.49.8 - just five seconds behind senior world class standards - and win the North of England Championships as well as the coveted AAAs Under-20 title in Bedford.
He progress has been helped by being able to use the David Lloyd fitness facilities in Bolton and he has done his local track work at Leverhulme Park.
