SOUTHPORT SEAFRONT, Southport. Southport Air Show 2000. Highlights of this year's show include a giant twin-rotor Chinook helicopter, the Red Arrows team, a Harrier jump jet, Tornado fighter planes, a Royal Navy Sea King helicopter known as one of the Flying Tigers, World War 2 vintage aircraft including a Corsair and Sea Fury fighter planes and a Douglas DC3 Dakota from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, a 1950s Canberra jet bomber, a Hunter F.Mk6A, the RAF Falcons freefall parachute display team, the Shape Skydivers, the Utterly Butterly Barnstormers wingwalking at speeds of up to 150mph on their 1940s vintage Boeing Stearman biplanes, vintage military vehicles, flight simulators, a display of model aircraft from the Southport Model Aero Club, trade stands and entertainment for all the family including bouncy castles and rides. The show starts 10am each day. Admission to the event is free for pedestrians. Car parking on the beach and seafront car parks is being held at only £10 per vehicle.

GRIZEDALE FOREST, Lake District. Grizedale Show. A weekend of art, forestry and fetes which includes limo tours visiting new works of art in the forest and the launch of the Festival of Lying celebrating the local tradition of 'Cumbrian lying", also displays of lumber jacks, the famous Welsh Axemen and displays of pole lathe turning and basket making. For children there is a rocket building and launch display, a forest treasure trail. Other attractions include forest art and nature tours, falcontry demonstrations, dry stone walling, a duck race, a marquee with stalls. THE OLD PARSONAGE, Arley Green, Northwich, Cheshire. Viscount and Viscountess Ashbrook open their gardens for visitors to view yew hedges, herbaceous and mixed borders, shrub roses, climbers, woodland garden and a pond with waterplants, rhododendrons, azaleas, meconopsis. The Old Parsonage is a 1750 Georgian farmhouse which also includes a cluster of old farm buildings which have been converted into cottages and a 15th Century Cruck Barn which until recently was used as the local primary school.
