Stevenage Borough 3 Leigh RMI 0 A BELOW-PAR show from Leigh RMI sent them crashing to their first away defeat of the season.
Poor defensive marking cost them the first two goals and an individual error cost them the third. Only briefly either side of half time did they pose much threat themselves.
RMI were a goal down inside the first 17 minutes when slack marking gave Gary Wraight the chance to outjump the defence and head powerfully past a rooted Craig Dootson.
Things went from bad to worse when, after 26 minutes, Leigh's vulnerability from set-pieces was again their undoing, Rob Trott scoring with a header to double Borough's lead.
They settled the issue midway through the second half when centre-back Iain Swan lost the ball inside his own area and Mark Graham swept in Borough's third to put the match well out of RMI's reach.
Leigh never gave up as Jones hit the side-netting and Dave Ridings forced Taylor into another good save.
But it's not the sort of performance that will have pleased manager Steve Waywell, especially after three straight wins. Now they've got to re-group and get a good result against Hednesford at Hilton Park tomorrow.
