A MAJOR exhibition in Bolton has shown how the good life can be just starting at aged 50.
Following the success of last year's Lifestyle 50-Plus exhibition, hundreds of people flocked to see this year's event in the town centre organised by the Bolton Evening News and the Albert Halls.
More than 60 exhibitors filled the Festival Hall, Lancaster Suite and a marquee in Victoria Square at the weekend giving visitors information and advice about everything from keeping fit and college courses to beauty tips, disabled equipment and care homes.
Among the organisations taking part was the newly formed Bolton and District Over Fifties Federation, who were promoting their first meetings.
Acting chairwoman Jean Kay said: "There has been a lot of interest.
"In this day and age, more people are feeling they need to stand up and speak up."
The weather and a bus strike on Friday conspired to keep visiting numbers to the show down but some people were determined to make the most of the event.
BEN business development manager Paul Wild said: "One couple came down by taxi just to come to the show and there were other people who walked to the town in the rain. "
But better weather on Saturday ensured the crowds came piling in.
Entertainment throughout the event was provided by a guide dogs demonstration and a display of sequence dancing from Ray and Joan Worsley.
The Dixiechix and Stetson Stompers also laid on a show of their line dancing talents in Victoria Square.
Interest in the exhibition has been so great that organisers are hoping it will become an annual event in the town's calendar.
