DAVID Stirzaker, who directs Farnworth Little Theatre's first play of the new season -- 'See How They Run' -- first became involved with the farce almost 50 years ago.

When he was doing his National Service as an airman in the RAF, he helped backstage for a joint forces production of the Philip King play.

"I then appeared as Humphrey in an Arts Club production in Swinton in 1956." David said. "Also in the cast, playing Miss Skillon, was a young actress named Patricia. Two years later I married here."

David played the Bishop in a 1988 production with SPADES, so when FLT's play selection committee asked him if he would like to produce the play, he jumped at the chance.

David and Pat Stirzaker were introduced to FLT in 1979 and have been active and valued members ever since. They have acted, helped backstage and assisted front of house.

Two years ago, David took the unenviable role of Treasurer. Pat helps to raise much-needed funds by running a second-hard book club at the theatre.

FLT's 'See How They Run' promises to be an extremely popular play and theatre-goers are advised to book as early as possible.

'See how They Run' will play from September 9 to 16. All productions start at 7.30 pm. Tickets from 01204 303808.
