THINGS are looking up in Little Hulton and Farnworth. More than 70 jobs have been created and 500 safeguarded during the past year.

The Little Hulton and Farnworth Partnership's Economy Team also reports that it has distributed £377,000 in grants over three years and secured £1.07 million in private sector support funding to help regenerate the area.

Mr Guy Darragh of the Economy Team's Customised Business Support, said: "Business can be hard at the best of times, but the finance we have been able to access has helped give firms the foundations on which to survive, develop and prosper."

He went on: "The benefits are clear. New jobs are emerging, old jobs are being secured, and that is great news for the whole of the Partnership area.

"We have already helped around 100 businesses through a variety of schemes including expansion, security, environmental improvements and wage subsidy.

"We urge companies to contact us to see how we can support their efforts."

Mr Darragh added: "Whether it is a corner shop or a major employer, we can be of assistance.

"There is £3 million available to help regenerate the local economy made up of Single Regeneration Budget, European funds and private investment.

"Our emphasis is on sustainable job creation and retention."
