FIRE chiefs are joining forces with councils to find out what people really think of their service.

Greater Manchester Fire Service questions will be included in a joint residents survey being carried out by the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities later this month.

Questionnaires will be posted to randomly selected households and the results compared with those in other authorities around the country.

George Almond, county fire officer, said: "It makes good economic sense to ask people who have or could use the service what they want and to find out what they think about what we are doing."
