DR B. Kuttner, lecturer in pure mathematics Birmingham University, spoke on problems arising in football pools, to the British Association today. He gave a learned paper in which he introduced mathematical formulae to show how many entries were necessary to win a prize. Dr Kuttner said that if there were 15 matches, the numbers of possible sets of results was 1,594,323. Each entry covered 27 of them, and it was not possible to manage with fewer than 1,594,323, divided by 27, which gave a figure of 59,049 entries.

MOST of the diseases to which the human frame is subject are caused by a disordered stomach. When the stomach is disordered the whole of the digestive and nutritive organs are unable to perform their proper functions, hence the system is not properly nourished, and the body is so weakened and the nervous power is so much diminished that the system is predisposed to succumb to Fevers, Diarrhoea, Cholera, Colds, Rheumatism, and in fact to every complaint that is prevalent.
Weaknesses, headache, nervousness, indigestion, pain in the stomach, loss of appetite, shortness of breath, pain between the shoulders, bad breath, wind on the stomach, dreaming and restless nights are all symptoms of a disordered stomach, and are not complaints of themselves. All these symptoms are speedily removed by taking a few doses of Holden's Stomach Mixture, prepared only by Mr W.H. Holden, Chemist, 21 Cheapside, Bolton, and sold by Chemists everywhere. Price 1s 1d and 2s 6d per bottle.
