"WE got exactly what we deserved - nothing," admitted Old Boltonians manager Peter Cooper after his team's shock 4-2 Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division home defeat by newly promoted Hesketh Casuals.
"We were behind in the first minute, battled back to level through Jon Twist and took the lead early in the second half through Damien Wrigley but we were always out of sorts, very scrappy. We just didn't play well. They levelled on 80 minutes and scored two in the last two minutes."
Veteran John Fairhurst was named as Bolts' man of the match.
Leading 2-1 with ten minutes left Walshaw Sports tumbled to a 3-2 home defeat by another side promoted to the top tier in the summer Highfield United. Miles Mattocks scored Sports' first with Ian Thompstone getting the second from the penalty spot. Craig Metcalfe was Walshaw's outstanding performer on the day.
Bury GSOB had a hard fought 1-0 win over Gregorians. Andy Myers got the vital only goal of the game on 50 minutes when he showed great strength to hold off the challenge of three defenders and fire home a beauty.
In Division One Jamie McDonald rattled in four goals and Trevor Howarth one for Bolton County in a 5-1 home win over Broughton Amateurs.
Two from Jon Done and one from Andy Faye saw Little Lever SC to a 3-1 home victory over Old Blackburnians. Two Martin Wilson goals saw Thornleigh to a 2-0 home win over promoted Horwich RMI.
A stunning Scott Heapey free kick and a goal from Gary Ellis saw RMI 2nds to a 2-1 home win over Old Mancunians.
In Division Two Bury Amateurs won 3-2 at Hayward with goals from Phil Saville, Paul Butterworth and Chris Gibbon.
The run of success at Wyresdale continued with the 2nd team winning 6-1 at Spotland Meths and the 3rds 3-1 at home to Bolton County to make it 11 victories and no defeats for the club's cross section of teams so far this season.
