FEW would argue that edging the vote as Manor 5s' big night in terms of a league's strength and depth are the Tuesday night 'Worthingtons' Premier and first divisions.

It's fair to say, that the bottom two of each division have found it tough going in particular, AFC Whitefield and Real Swintonia whereas, the Premiership's Real Regret and Northstar City have in each game given 100 per cent and had some success in front of goal. Within the Premiership, banging the drum are Jason Tyldesley's, Britannia, who incidentally, are also tops in three other leagues (M.U.F.C. and Red or Dead). However, second place through to sixth are well equipped to take a point or two off them as the title run-in looms.

Within the first division there is no clear favourite as an amazing seven teams scrap it out for honours and the two promotion spots. The depth is highlighted here in that a season's fixtures may produce just the one score draw. This division has already recorded four along with such scores as 19-18, 10-9, 6-5.

Managing at last to field a near full strength team last week were Andy Wheeldon's, Parcelona. Promoted last season as champions of the Wednesday night 'Grolsch' first division, the long awaited unofficial 'champions league' match versus Simon Cannon's Jossy's Giants was played. 6-0 down, the half-time whistle did not come soon enough for Parcelona as a few harsh words were exchanged. The second half, you've guessed it, was a superb fight back from which Jossys' three month unbeaten run was smashed. Final score, Jossys 9, Parcelona 10.

September saw teams left over from the closed season leagues form their own 'Tennants' Premier league. Watch out for Niall Kenny's, Westleigh and Steve Haslem's, Laughin' Assassins as neither would be content with runners-up spot.
