BOLTON Wanderers Ladies made a faltering start to their first league season playing at Tempest United in Lostock.
It was Liverpool Feds who capitalised first, scoring after 13 minutes and just when it was looking as though Bolton could level the match a glancing header from an unmarked Feds striker made it 2-0 on 43 minutes before they went three down on 50 minutes.
For a few minutes, Bolton Wanderers were looking shaky, and there was an expectation of more goals for the Feds, but the Wanderers started to put their game together again, and, on 64 minutes, a long cross from the right was collected in the box and volleyed into the back of the net by Joanne Fairclough, who was also named as Solutrim Engineering Player of the Match.
Now it was Liverpool Feds looking shaky as Bolton sought a second goal to really put them back into the game. But the Feds defence stood firm, if not always fair, and it was Feds who again struck, with a ball which bounced around the Bolton area finally finishing in the net from a looping header to complete the scoring.
A disappointing result for Bolton Wanderers, but they know they can play better than they did on this day. They will be looking for an improved performance tomorrow when they play away at Bury, and again next Sunday at home to Mond Rangers.
