AFTER reading the BEN on Monday September 4 regarding Vale House at Stoneclough, I was disgusted at the proposal of a demolition order. This is truly a famous landmark and should be restored to its former beauty.
I also believe it is a listed building and I was also under the impression that Listed Buildings cannot be demolished (until it suits the council that is).
If Vale House was down south it would be a different story, and would never have got into the state it is now. Down south they look after there heritage but up north that is not the case, they can't wait to knock them down to make way for more housing estates, Im sure there would be a better solution for this Building, like a Residential Home, Childrens Home, etc
