A BOLTON primary school teacher has been quizzed by detectives only weeks after a jury cleared him of indecent assault.

Neville Moss, aged 50, was interviewed by officers at Astley Bridge Police station.

The BEN understands detectives are investigating fresh allegations unrelated to the recent court case.

A police spokesman confirmed that Mr Moss was released on police bail. A senior detective said this afternoon: "Papers have now gone to the Crown Prosecution Service."

Last month a jury at Bolton Crown Court found Mr Moss of Higher Drake Meadow, Westhoughton, not guilty of 13 counts of indecent assault against young girls.

There were scenes of jubilation after the father-of-five, who is well know in amateur dramatic circles, was cleared of all charges against him.

Immediately after the court case Mr Moss went away on holiday while he and his family awaited a governors' meeting to decide his future. Governors suspended Mr Moss on full pay following the original allegations in November 1999 and can now lift the suspension or take disciplinary action.

But before they could set a date for the meeting to make a decision, Mr Moss was called in for questioning.

Governors have refused to comment on the latest developments but a spokesman issued a statement relating to the court case.

It said: "A discussion will take place later this week to establish the protocols and timescales for the Governors' Committee meeting.

"The governors are required to notify the date and time to all parties 14-days prior to the meeting. The governors hope to be in a position to issue such notice as soon as possible."

Mr Moss was not available to comment earlier today.
