THE Bolton Group of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is migrating.
Alterations at Bolton School mean the group cannot use the Girls' Division theatre where they have held their winter lectures for many years.
This autumn and winter, the venue will be Smithills School hall, Smithills Dean Road.
The first event is at 7.30pm on Thursday, September 14, when Tim Melling from the RSPB's North-west office will give a slide illustrated talk on the art of bird misidentification. Non-members are welcome and proceeds from the £2.50 admission goes to conservation work.
Other highlights include a look behind the scenes at Bolton Museum and a coach trip to Gigrin Farm in Wales to watch red kites.
The group's new leader Peter Young is keen to attract new members and says people should not be put off by the thought that everyone will be an expert.
Richard Bohren, press officer, said: "The RSPB needs all the support it can muster when birds and their habitats are under so many pressures. Youngsters are welcome to see whether they enjoy it before joining."
Membership secretary Janet Grundy will be there on September 14 to explain how to join the group.
