PUNTER Peter Callan will be sharing his betting tips with millions of TV viewers after sharing in a £130,000 pay-out during a day at the races.

Mr Callan, aged 53, from Hunger Hill, was one of a 27 strong syndicate which scooped the win during a stag party at Haydock racecourse.

Following the huge success on the Tote Scoop6 system, he has now been invited to appear on Channel 4 show the Racing Line on Saturday.

He will join the the experts in previewing the St Leger meeting at Doncaster.

The group was celebrating Worsley bridegroom-to-be Wayne Flannagan's stag party.

Friends, relatives and workmates from Worsley, Walkden, Little Hulton and Wigan all shared in the cash windfall.

They have all been invited to be guests of the Tote at Doncaster on Saturday, with Mr Callan and Mr Flannagan, aged 29, telling their story on TV.

The syndicate will have the chance to win a bonus pot of £190,000 during the Doncaster meeting.

Mr Callan, who regularly has a flutter on the Tote Scoop6 system, placed the prize winning bets at Haydock.

He said: "It was an amazing run of good luck.

"Wayne is a friend of my son's and although I was invited, I nearly didn't go because I was at my caravan in Wales.

"But the weather turned really bad so I came home in time for the trip."

A key element of the huge windfall was the success of 25-1 outsider Candleriggs.

Mr Callan said: "I wouldn't have backed that horse myself. But it is owned by Sir Alex Ferguson and a lot of the lads are Manchester United fans, so they persuaded me to go for it.

"There were lots of different horses tipped by everyone in the stag party.

"So me and my son whittled it down to the last few.

"But I'm just grateful to Wayne because if he didn't invite us all in the first place none of it would have happened."

Many of the syndicate are regulars at the New Inn on Manchester Road East in Little Hulton.

Mr Callan said: "I think there will be another big party in there if we win again on Saturday!"

Eight of the syndicate, including Mr Flannagan, are due to fly to La Manga for a week's holiday on Saturday.

But Tote bosses have arranged for them to fly out on Sunday instead so they can be at Doncaster races.
