BOLTON Rugby Union Club began their league campaign with a 15-9 defeat at Bedians in Manchester.
Bolton had a flying start when Mike Ince, on his return from Eccles, confidently struck the ball through the posts for a three point lead.
But the game changed as Bolton failed to get into their stride and then ended the first half trailing 15-6.
After the break, Bolton looked a different side, more aggressive and retaining ball they dominated long periods of the game. But they were unable to pull back the deficit and were left to reflect on a poor first half performance.
Bolton can and must play better as the new players find their feet.
The second team beat Bedians Seconds 38-12 while the Thirds beat Preston Grasshoppers 19-12
Next week sees the first team in cup action playing Carnforth at Avenue Street in the Tetley Vase and the other sides playing Leigh. The Vets don their boots for the first time against Wigan Vets.
