MAY I say, since I left Bolton some 63 years ago, I can't help but think what wonderful times I had there.
By the Bolton Town Hall was a shop and in the window was a case-ball. One had to guess how many people attended Bolton Wanderers football ground.
If one won, then the case-ball was yours. I also used to go into the Market Hall and, upstairs, they used to have puppies, birds etc all for sale.
Notices were stuck up on walls by the toilets saying "Beware of pickpockets". I also used to go round the fish market. What grand memories. All Saints School -- I used to go to remember all the teachers' names. I left school at 14 years of age, working afterwards, and we were all able to read and write.
