ELDERLY residents from Hag Fold in Atherton are pictured picking up the pieces to learn a new craft.
The art of mosaics was being put together as part of a new project - Recreate, on the Atherton estate.
Recreate aims to provide new opportunities for young and old people to take part in arts, sports, play, health and environmental activities.
And last week, the Dorset Road Community Centre hosted a series of taster sessions.
These included young people's activities such as soccer, softball and tag rugby, jungle fun with stories and rhymes for under fives and carers, and an Activate beginners circuit class.
A drop-in arts and crafts session was held, with workshops geared at elderly people, involving Age Concern.
Wigan Council's new arts development officer, Angela Chappell, said: "We have been asking people about their ideas and aspirations as well as giving them a chance to try all kinds of different activities, and I am sure this project can make a real contribution to the regeneration of Hag Fold."
