shine THE roll of success for Atherton Swimming Club continued in August with no less than three talented young swimmers achieving nationally recognised qualifying times and participating in the National Age Group Championships in Coventry.
Daniel Kings qualified 100 and 200 metre butterfly events at under 16 level.
In the 15-year-old age group, Heather Frederiksen had a tremendous week finishing fourth in the 800-metre freestyle, fifth in the 400-metre and tenth in the 200-metre of the same discipline, twelfth in the 400-metre individual medley and the same finishing position in the 200-metre backstroke.
Heather also swims for the City of Salford and has been chosen to represent Great Britain in the five-Kilometre Open Water Meet in France during early September.
She recently showed her prowess by taking the Senior Title at the Open Water event at Salford Quays on August 19.
Katie Quinn in the year 12 age group, was competing in her first National Age Group competition and had a fine swim in the 200m individual medley.
However, she was incredibly unlucky to miss out in the final of the 100-metre breaststroke.
Her finishing time was just an agonising 2/100ths of a second out -- leaving her with the consolation of being first reserve swimmer. All three swimmers are to be congratulated as yet again they have done Atherton Swimming Club and the North West proud in a national event.
