GRABBING the limelight are the Monday night Carling Premier and Carling First divisions.
All 18 teams enjoyed a good night's football, win, lose or draw. All nine matches could have made the game of the week table for one reason or another.
The main highlights were, the near clean sheets -- that are very rare in five-a-side -- for Casinos' Brian Taylor and Whitehorse's, Phil Mason, both of whom conceded last minute goals.
There's Antelope's last gasp four-minute goal feast that stole a memorable victory, 9-8 against Phil Cooper's MCFC 2, while a re-grouped Norfolk 'n' Chance once again displayed the intricate, precision football that once earned them the label of Manor 5s' number one.
Stealing the show is the First Division's titanic show between Phil Waterhouse's Alpha and Kevin Hall's Streetwise Sports.
Very much tit for tat throughout, nothing come the final whistle could separate them as, with 30 seconds remaining, Streetwise scored goal 36 in a tremendous 18-18 draw, leaving referee, Craig Littler, to sharpen his much worn pencil in time for his next match!
Finally, it is always nice to leave the pitch with a victory and enjoy the analysis afterwards. Yet to savour the moment but gaining respect is the young Richard Howarth's A team.
They have had eight consecutive defeats but Richard and his team are very keen, punctual and organised. Having now out-grown the junior section, they have, to their credit, made the leap into the men's leagues.
They have enjoyed some success in front of goal and it's only a matter of time before the moment is savoured.
