TOP employment experts will be on hand at a special seminar to help local businesses avoid the pitfalls often associated with foreign staff.
Making sure that rights of entry, working permits and other vital paperwork is all in order can be a nightmare for someone who wants to employ a skilled overseas worker.
However, Bolton Council Ethnic Minorities Business Service is calling in the experts to tell people how to go about things in the right way.
Trevor Bell, a Partner in Manchester law firm Linder Myers, and Mohammed Suleman, from the firm's immigration division, which is attached to its business and commercial department, will be explaining the pitfalls and opportunities available to companies.
Bolton Council Leader Councillor Bob Howarth said: "As companies are now competing in a global market, business people are increasingly looking to employ individuals from overseas who have skills which are in short supply in this country.
"In addition, firms looking for investors to help fund and develop business ideas are also looking abroad so it's vital they follow correct procedures to ensure things go smoothly."
The event, which is free, is at the Reebok Stadium on Thursday and starts at 6.30pm. There will also be advice on taxation implications for both employers and employees wanting to work in the UK.
The Ethnic Minorities Business Service will be on hand to provide business advice and support to visitors.
The meeting will last about an hour and be followed by light refreshments.
To reserve a place at the seminar contact Jennifer Begum, EMBS at Bolton Enterprise Centre on 01204 336163.
