SAM Allardyce today warned his surprise package Wanderers team to give Grimsby Town ultimate respect tonight.
All the pointers signal a Wanderers win in Humberside but Allardyce dismisses any talk of being favourites for a game which could see his side to top.
Wanderers will be aiming to maintain their 100 per cent away record and are high in confidence with all their strikers getting among the goals and without any added injuries from Saturday's victory at Huddersfield.
In contrast, Grimsby are struggling at the wrong end of the table but, as Allardyce expressed, they will be hugely lifted by their first win of the season on Saturday.
"We are on a roll at the moment," said Big Sam. "And the run of the ball is going our way and we have to keep improving.
"Our improvement for this week has to be to cut out the general silly mistakes and tighten up on our marking from corners which might cost us in the future if we don't sort it out now.
"When you look at the problems we had in pre-season, which I have not forgotten, it makes this start we have had even more of an achievement.
"On our form you would expect us to get something out of the Grimsby game. We would hope to win but if you cannot win you have to make sure you don't lose.
"We have to go into the game with confidence but not over confidence. We must not let complacency creep in because it is always a major achievement to win any away game in this division.
"Grimsby's confidence will have been given a double boost with what their new manager Lennie Lawrence will have instilled in them with the win on Saturday."
Allardyce has the luxury of being able to field the same side which won at Huddersfield three days ago although he might be tempted to move Michael Ricketts up from the subs' bench to the starting line-up after the young striker's match-winning double strike on Saturday.
qVICTORY for Wanderers tonight would create a club record of four consecutive wins at the start of a season. They have started with three away wins on two previous occasions - 1904/5 and 1934/35 - and both times ended the season gaining promotion from the old Division Two to Division One.
qWANDERERS Reserves' trip to Wolves has been rescheduled for tomorrow night (ko 7pm) from its original date of September 27.
