BOLTON Schools Under 15s made a super start to the season when they beat Leeds 2-0 in a Northern Merit League match at Oldfield Lane on Saturday.
Goalkeeper Chris Cunliffe (Deane) was in top form making a couple of first class saves to keep the lively Leeds forwards at bay.
Bolton hit back and they took a deserved lead just 30 seconds before the break when Leeds cleared a corner to midfielder Adam Marshall and the Thornleigh youngster fired home a brilliant shot from the edge of the box.
Bolton maintained the upper hand after the break and they went further in front mid way through the second half when Luke Killeen (Little Lever) scored from close range.
Meanwhile, local schools are gearing themselves up for the Under 16s Schoolsnet Cup. The national competition is organised on a county basis first of all and first round matches involving Bolton and Bury schools are: Cardinal Langley (Middleton) v St. Gabriel's RC (Bury); St. Cuthbert's RC (Rochdale) v Rivington and Blackrod (Bolton); Failsworth (Oldham) v Tottington (Bury); Elton (Bury) v St Joseph's RC (Horwich); Westhoughton (Bolton) v Bluecoat (Oldham); Thornleigh (Bolton) v Hyde; Philips (Bury) v Avondale (Stockport).
