A COUNCIL-backed dance company is about to kick-start a new season after a number of successful national and international shows.
Chorley Youth Dance Company, set up with the help of Chorley Borough Council two years ago, performed at the International Youth Theatre in London last month.
And following their recent success at the Epping Forest Youth Theatre Festival the dance group are now recruiting young members from the town for their new and exciting autumn programme.
The company has grown to more than 50 members with many writing their own Constitution and applying for National Lottery grants.
A new series of dance workshops is planned at St Michael's high school on Astley Road from Monday September 25 at 8pm.
Councillor Ann Bland, associate member for sport, arts and community development, said: "The new season includes the opportunity for the young dancers to work with professional performing artists and designers as part of the council's Year of the Artist project in November."
The dance company is also expected to perform in a hair and fashion show to be staged in the town shortly.
During the forthcoming season, LUDUS -- the county's dance support agency, are providing the Chorley Youth Dance Company with choreographer tutor, Lindsey Jones, to artistically lead them.
