THERE are few people who do not support the road hauliers, farmers, taxi drivers and, indeed, a vast number of the general public in their efforts to have fuel prices brought to a sensible level.

All governments have applied this stealth tax, which accounts for the biggest proportion of the total cost.

All other means have been tried to bring the feelings of industry and the every day, long-suffering motorist to the attention of the Government, without any success whatsoever.

New Labour seem to have distanced themselves from the voice of the people and are locked into a battle of wills, which, as King Canute found to his dismay, ended in failure.

Tony Blair and his cohorts must get real and act, before our country, once great, is brought to its knees. As we all know, it's better to lose a battle, to win a war.
