CRESTFALLEN Chris Hunt is considering his future after his final Olympic Games has turned into a nightmare.
Hunt, making his third appearance at the Games, suffered a torn knee cartilage during the mixed doubles competition.
The injury forced the twice former European champion to withdraw from the men's doubles and sidelined him for six to eight weeks.
As a result it's caused him to also miss the forthcoming Dutch and German Opens.
"At this moment I must admit I wonder whether it is worth carrying on," said the 31-year-old Bolton badminton ace.
"I have worked so hard in the last 18 months to recover from a shoulder injury and now this happens.
"It's probably not too wise to make a final decision right now while I'm feeling depressed.
"I'll sit down and think for a week and then make up my mind. But I'm a stubborn kind of guy and might just carry on."
Hunt is having a scan on his knee tomorrow when the full extent of the damage will be known.
"I had a local anesthetic in the knee before I played mixed because it's a degenerative problem.
"I obviously injured it again during the first set but because of the anesthetic didn't realise the extent of the injury.
"Now, I'm walking round on crutches trying to make the most of the rest of the Games.
"I'm getting plenty of sympathy from the locals though I could have done without it."
