REGARDING the front page article in the BEN on Saturday, 'Mobile Moan'. There is a proposal to erect a phone mast on the pavement of Sweetloves Water Treatment Plant on Belmont Road.
There is already one mast in the grounds of the water plant but the proposed one will be even closer to the properties in the area.
I am writing to warn local residents to place their objections as quickly as possible as there is only until this Thursday to get them in. The address to write to is A. Barrit, Environmental Department, Town Hall, Bolton. BL1 1RU and the reference number for the application to erect the mast is 57688/00.
The way these masts are being erected wherever the phone companies want them is to me an invasion of civil liberties and the Government does not allow objections on health grounds. Is the only way to try to stop them along the lines of the fuel protest? Come on, Tony Blair, listen to the people and stop riding roughshod over the electors, you will want our votes soon.
