IT was to be a nine goal thriller that entertained the crowd at Green Lane on Sunday, with FC Gap taking all the points in a 5-4 victory to keep them at the top of the table and maintain their 100 per cent record.
The star of the game and a well earned man of the match award was Phil Hutchinson who bagged all five for the Gap. Scoring in reply for Sams XI were Charnock two, Oakes and last season's top marksman Wolfenden.
Bridge FC formerly known as Albert Arms from last season won in fine style at home against Ladybridge, Bass scoring a brace with further strikes coming from Harrison and Greenhalgh.
Monteraze are looking a good side this season with a second victory in succession against last season's First Division champions Derby Arms.
Carters Bridge picked up another three points on their travels away at Tempest Arms running out victors by 4-2. Christie scored his fourth goal in three games with Young and Hazelwood adding the rest. Taylor scored the consolation goals for Tempest Arms.
Pineapple gained their first win of the season on home soil when they overturned White Horse 6-2, Ashton scoring a brace with Roberts, Harrison, Hill and Gorton netting the others.
In the only remaining game Wingates ran out victors at home to Horwich Victoria 2-1, Roth bagging a brace in this one with Spillman scoring in reply for the Vic.
In Division One Walkden still set the pace at the top with their 5-2 crushing of Spinning Mule gaining them maximum points from three games played.
Running closely behind them are Smithills who could not break down the Barnstormers defence in their 4-4 draw, Dean and Mohmed both scoring braces with Price, O'Berg, White and Smith all on the scoresheet for Barnstormers.
Sitting in joint third place are Breightmet who strolled to an easy victory at home to Crofters Arms 7-0, Banks scoring times with Ivers chipping in with two and Settle adding the other.
Fox and Stork gained three points in a close game against Beaumont 1-0, Tyldsley scoring the winner. Crofters Original gained their first points of the season with a 2-1 win at home to Long Pull, Lloyd and Smedley scoring for the Originals with Chadwick netting the consolation for Long Pull.
