Breightmet United Reserves have included a "guest" player in their ranks over the last two weeks and what a star he's proved to be!

Twenty year old Jimmy Freeborn played for two seasons with the Moss Park outfit before taking up a fantastic coaching offer in America.

Back home in Bolton for a month before resuming his studies into pharmacy at Bradford University the young striker has played two matches with his former team and scored hat-tricks in both games!

Jimmy tells us: "Every time I'm home Barry Norris down at Breightmet gives me a ring and asks me to turn out for him. It couldn't have gone better this time I got three against Stockport Georgians and we had to play them at home the next weekend and I got three again.

"I love playing for Breightmet. I first joined them when I was seventeen then the coaching opportunity came up and I went to the States. I'll be in my second year at Bradford this time and I'll be captain of the football team.

"My aim this season is to get into the British Universities side and these two games for Breightmet will have been an enormous help. With only just coming back home I've missed all of pre season but now I've made up for it by getting matches under my belt.

"The summer coaching I've done in the States was just the opportunity of lifetime. I had already passed my FA Preliminary badge as coaching was something I've always been interested in.

"I saw an advertisement from Challenger Sports about going over to America to coach youngsters and I went along for the trials. About 2000 others had done the same. There was no messing about. They had top qualified people there and you were thrown in at the deep end by being told to supervise a coaching session.

"I must of done something right because I was one of four hundred chosen. We were all taken over to the States for 12 weeks summer camps which are absolutely fantastic. These are run in all different parts of America and I ended up going to Texas.

"We stayed with families whilst we were over there and got paid $200 a week into the bargain. The camps are aimed at youngsters from age four up to 16 both boys and girls. In fact the girls on average are better than the boys. With the American women's team having just won the World Cup the girls game over there is just massive and it is having a knock on effect all over."

He added: "When the camp had finished we toured around America a bit spending the money we had earned. I went to Los Angeles and Las Vegas and when we were there we couldn't resist the opportunity and went to see Tom Jones in concert. I think we were the only two blokes in the audience and yes the ladies really do throw their underwear on stage!

"It has been an incredible experience and there is just a chance I'll be able to go again next summer.

In the meantime though one little aim I have before I go off back to University is to make it three hat-tricks on the bounce for Barry Norris and the lads at Breightmet!"
