AT the weekend, another problem on the Flowers Estate, Harper Green, Farnworth.
The local constabulary, Bolton's finest, came to sort it out, as they have done many times over the years, stretching their limited budget, but doing an excellent job.
The residents of the Flowers Estate have, for years, watched the estate slip into decline, due to the apathy of the Council. Other estates which have 'problems' seem to have their problems moved on, but the Flowers Estate is where they're moved to. When the Council is asked about this, they have no one to comment.
Where are our Council representatives when this happens?
It has been rumoured that someone at the Town Hall has said the Flowers Estate -- "has had it too good for too long, it needs bringing down to earth."
If that is true, I wish they would let themselves be known and explain themselves.
The Council representatives for the Flowers Estate have been noticeable by their absence. I have no doubt that they will appear at the appropriate time-- as they have they done in the past -- to ask the residents to continue to support them when they put themselves forward again, offering to continue at the 'Council Table' on their behalf.
But, as the Council representatives have got nothing much from the Council table in the past, what would make them think that the residents would want to continue with their services?
Recently, there has been millions of pounds shared out -- but none for the Flowers Estate.
What were our councillors doing when they weren't paying attention when this money was shared out? It seems they have not paid attention for quite some time, because the Flowers Estate has had nothing but problems for years.
So, if they can't come up with the goods, why should the residents put up with it any longer? Grenville Moore Iris Avenue
