WOULD-BE flier David Morrison is putting his cash flow problems on the table for television viewers to see.

The Bolton-born computer analyst is planning a major career change which would see him taking to the skies as a helicopter pilot, offering flying lessons.

The 29-year-old sought advice from a panel of money experts in the new programme, Money Makeovers, which goes out on digital channel, Granada Breeze, next month. The programme is due to be recorded tomorrow.

His financial headaches will be spotlighted as he struggles to scrape together £45,000 to pay for his commercial helicopter licence -- and send his son to Bolton School in four years' time.

The programme aims to untangle complicated financial dilemmas.

David, who now lives in Aspull, said: "My dad used to be a pilot and I would go and watch him fly at Barton Airfield.

"I used to look at the helicopters all the time. But it was only three years ago that I was really bitten by the bug.

"My wife bought me a flying lesson for my birthday and that was it. I knew that I wanted to be a helicopter pilot."

David will be funding his own lessons, at £200 an hour, using cash from his job as a computer programmer. He expects the process to take about two years.

Granada filmed David, a former pupil of Harper Green School, Farnworth, flying a helicopter from Hawarden Airfield in Chester.

A film crew also went to his home to interview David with his son Daniel, aged 11 months.

David said: "My job is fairly well-paid, but I hate sitting in an office all day.

"To be flying is something exciting and different -- and the pay is comparative.

"It's just the cost. Lessons cost £200 and I need at least 155 hours flying to qualify for my licence so that I can fly commercially.

"That means 50 lessons costing a total of £40,000 to £45,000.

"I also want to send my son to Bolton School when he is five. That costs £3,500 a year. How am I to afford this?"

David turned to the programme for help after spotting an internal advertisement in the offices of Manchester's Granada Television.

He was doing contract work for the company when he spotted the notice.

The answers to his money troubles will be revealed on October 6 when Money Makeovers will go on air at 11.30am.
