BOLTON'S Destitute Animal Shelter is holding its annual Flag Day this Saturday, September 23.
Always a popular event, the last few raised have seen supporters raise over £2000 and the shelter's Neil Martin says: "This is always gratefully received and we would like to thank the people of Bolton for their generosity."
However, this year the shelter needs more collectors -- between 10 and 15 -- and Neil believes that more collectors could bring in at least £3000.
He says: "That figure is particularly appropriate because we need that much to complete an appeal, called the Heating Appeal, we've been running since the start of the year.
"We need to raise between £9000 and £10,000 to totally upgrade the heating of the kennels and provide insulation to all the areas in which we keep the animals. It's a programme that's needed urgently."
Anyone wishing to lend their support to Flag Day and become a collector should assemble outside the Nat West Bank in Deansgate, Bolton on Saturday. For times telephone Neil Martin on 01204 526486.
