EEF Lancashire, the Bolton-based Association of the Engineering Employers' Federation, has appointed Phil Lord as its new Senior Health and Safety Adviser.

He will advise member companies on effective risk management and the interpretation and implementation of legislation on Health and Safety in the workplace.

Mr Lord, aged 40, is a Corporate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.

He has joined EEF Lancashire from Computer Sciences Corporation based in Frimley.

He was Regional Health and Safety Manager (North) with responsibility for about 4,000 employees at 54 sites.

Before that Mr Lord, who lives in Heywood with his wife and two sons, worked in a number of roles at British Aerospace in Middleton.

EEF Lancashire has also appointed its first woman executive committee member.

Elizabeth Clark is Human Resources Manager of Torotrak (Development) Ltd in Leyland.
