FUNDRAISING becomes a laughing matter when comedian Trevor Wallis takes to the stage tonight . . .
The Westhoughton comic will be appearing in a charity night line up, to help raise funds for Adam Foulkes, aged 12.
Adam, from Molyneux Road, Westhoughton, was born with Down's Syndrome and has undertaken therapy sessions with the dolphins in Key Largo, America.
The treatment was so beneficial that his mum, Diana, is now working hard to raise funds for a return trip this year.
Adam has shown improvements in his concentration levels and is taking a lot more interest in his surroundings.
Diana said: "My ultimate aim is for him to speak and the speech therapists have urged me to massage Adam's face to keep the muscles moving.
"Adam used to just sit and make noises all the time, but now he sits and listens and looks around him.
"He loved being with the dolphins and since we came back he gets excited if we show him the photos and perked up when he saw dolphins in a film on television.
"In the past he would have found it hard to relate something in real life to an image on television."
To help raise the money for another trip, Trevor will be appearing tonight along with Northern Beat, Kim Lee and compere Tom Newton.
The show at Greefields Club, Wigan Road, Westhoughton, starts 8pm. Tickets, £2, are available on the door.
