TWO caring publicans get our floral "thank you" this week.
Paula and Phil Marsh of the Cotton Tree pub in Prince Street, Bolton were nominated by Margaret and Geoff Willis from Farnworth.
They write:"These two people put on charity events week in week out. They don't just provide the premises free, they also get involved from start to finish. They also get the pub regulars involved.
The reason we feel that they are long overdue for some recognition is that they do this mostly out of community spirit. Of course the extra business this generates is not to be overlooked, but it is plainly obvious that they are both very caring people.
Last Thursday, they put on a fund-raising karaoke for our Justice campaign. They provided the supper, staff, room and karaoke at no cost to us.
But it did not end there. They also made a donation to the fund and passed around a pot, which contained a very reasonable sum. It is also plain to see that a lot of their attitude has rubbed off on their staff.
We have no doubt that we will be told off for sending in this nomination!"
Paula and Phil were surprised and delighted with these sentiments and the lovely bouquet (pictured). This arrived courtesy of Caroline Ward's flower and gift delivery service (freephone 0800-289-335).
If YOU know a special someone who deserves our weekly flowers, write and tell us about them (including their daytime telephone number) to: BOUQUET OF THE WEEK, Angela Kelly, Features Department, Bolton Evening News, Churchgate, Bolton BL1 1DE.
