A POINT might have been all they could manage but Bo Hansen, the lucky late strike hero, reckons Wanderers took the honours in the fight for local pride at Ewood Park.
Hansen got a huge slice of good fortune when his ambitious long-range shot took a deflection off Rovers' defender Henning Berg for an 88th minute equaliser that cancelled out James Thomas' first minute strike.
But he insists his first goal of the season was a just reward for a performance of character.
"We can be really pleased with the way we played," the dashing Dane said, summing up his derby delight.
"It's especially difficult when you go 1-0 behind after just one minute away from home. But we kept battling away and finally got what we deserved. We're delighted with the result."
Hansen, who has been switched from a central striking role to a wide attacker in Sam Allardyce's 4-3-3 system, says he is enjoying his new role.
"I'll play wherever the gaffer wants me to," he says willingly, "but being in this position means I'm in the game a lot more and I'm facing the goal instead of the other way."
Allardyce has been singing Hansen's praises since electing to make the switch in the absence of any genuine wide attacking players.
Now he says the Dane is making more of a mark than he did as a spearhead striker.
"He's contributing a lot more this season than he contributed when he was up front," the manager explains.
"He's very energetic, gets ups and down the right hand side and plays the position well. He can get the ball and run at defenders and puts balls into the box.
"If he can start coming off the line and using his finishing instincts more, he'll do very, very well there.
"Let's hope that goal - as lucky as it was - gets him on his way."
