THE sunset of the first summer of the Millennium without morris dancers from Horwich.

The team were forced to pull out of the event at Anglezarke after one of their members suffered an achilles tendon injury.

Two others were suffering fom 'flu and the squad was so depleted there were not enough to perform the dancing routines.

Team leader Bob Bradley, said: "Our member sustained a recurring tendon injury because of too much dancing.

"There is a lot of twisting and turning involved.

"All you have to do to pull a tendon is put your foot on an uneven patch of grass.

"It's disappointing for us and it is disappointing for those who were going to come along but it is just one of those things."

The team were hoping to dance in Horwich and Bolton town centres during the day before going to Anglezarke to mark the end of the summer.

They will not now appear in Bolton until the spring but will join in the Santa parade in Kirkby Lonsdale in December.

Anyone interested in joining the group can go to rehearsals on Wednesdays, 8pm to 10pm, Horwich Resource Centre, Beaumont Road.
